Janet Clark Sutton, 82, of Indianapolis, passed away unexpectedly on September 2, 2023, at home. She was born on January 22, 1941, in Indianapolis, to the late James Ira and Lillian Marie (Welsh) Clark.
Jan attended Lawrence Central High School, class of 1960. She was a deli manager for National Tea/Standard Grocery for over 30 years, a proud member of UFCW Local 700, and loved working with people in the grocery business.
Jan was passionate when it came to decorating her home for every holiday, and the holiday gatherings and Sunday dinners she hosted will be treasured memories for family and guests. She loved to cook and was famous for her deviled eggs, macaroni salad, meatloaf, and salmon patties. Jan loved to "dress to the nines!" and was known for her big purses and large shoe collection. She will be truly missed by her loving family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Paula (Randy) Knoop Henry, Michael (Karen) Knoop, David (Collette) Sutton, Chris (Kate) Sutton and Amy (Mark) Trusty; brother, John (Wanda) Clark; sisters-in-law, Betty Clark and Alberta Clark Sams; grandchildren, Jason (Raymond English) Henry, Joshua (Michelle) Henry, Kaitlin (Colin) Yocum, Evan Knoop, Shay (Kellen) Mowery, Erin Sutton, Mason Sutton, Kayla Sutton, Sarah Dewey, Lani Lucerno, Taylor Trusty and Madison Trusty; and six great grandchildren plus twins on the way.
Jan was preceded in death by husbands, Charles Francis Knoop, Jack David Simon and Jerry Lee Sutton, and brothers, Donald and James Clark.
Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, September 13 from 2 to 8 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral Home, 1458 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis, with additional visitation on Thursday, September 14 from 11 to 1 p.m. A service celebrating her life will follow visitation on Thursday in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Entombment: Washington Park East Cemetery.
