Jean K. (Knapke) Coffman

Jean K. Coffman, 97, of Beech Grove, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021.  She was born on July 7, 1923 in Davenport, Iowa to the late Elmer F. and Helen C. (Fuerst) Knapke.  Jean married the love of her life, William Robert Coffman, who preceded her in death.

Jean loved her grandchildren, vacationing in Florida and high school basketball.  A devout and faithful Catholic, she attended Mass daily as well as prayed the rosary. 

Survivors include her children, J. Stephen (Sharon) Coffman, Nancy A. (Ron) Leaf, Susan (Vince) Sanders and Catherine G. (Kenny) Van Auken; brother, John Knapke; 19 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren. 

Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 9 to 11 a.m. in SS. Francis & Clare Catholic Church, 5901 Olive Branch Rd., Greenwood, with a brief rosary service before at 8:40 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the church with the Rev. Stephen W. Giannnini presiding.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions have been suggested to the St. Paul Hermitage, St. Elizabeth Coleman Pregnancy and Adoption Services or a charity of the donor’s choice.
