Jeanne Louise (Werner) Schott, 82
Greenwood, Indiana
Jeanne Louise (Werner) Schott, age 82, of Greenwood, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2025. She was born on November 28, 1942, in Indianapolis to the late James Louis and Mary Lou (Steinberger) Werner.
A woman of deep faith, kindness, and wisdom, Jeanne married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Anthony Schott, on June 15, 1968, at St. Mark Catholic Church. They shared nearly 50 joyful years together until his passing in 2017.
Jeanne was a proud graduate of Sacred Heart High School, class of 1960. At just 17 years old, she began teaching first grade at St. Mark Catholic School, a lifelong vocation that reflected her passion for education and service. She later earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in teaching from Indiana Central College (now the University of Indianapolis). She also spent time with the Franciscan Sisters before her engagement to Dick, a testament to her spiritual devotion.
Over her distinguished career, Jeanne taught for 34 years at St. Mark Catholic School and eight years at the University of Indianapolis, touching countless lives with her gentle guidance and steadfast Catholic values.
Jeanne was fun-loving and creative, enjoying crafting, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her large and loving family. A devoted wife, nurturing mother, and doting grandmother, she was a faith-filled role model whose warmth and joy will be remembered by all who knew her, especially her grandchildren, who cherished many sleepovers and special moments at her home.
She is survived by her children, Eric (Katie Griffin), Chris, and Kirby; siblings Helen, Theresa, Margie, Jim, Mike, John, Joe, Chris, Mary Anne, Dick, and Steve; grandchildren William, Joe, David, Bridget, Tony, Jack, Jackson, Jimmy, Carolynne, Sam, Ella, Eddie, Josie, Charlie, and Frannie; and great-grandchildren Dominic, Paul, Eleanor, Palmer, and Vincent.
