Jerry Rogers, II

Jerry Rogers, II., 33, of Indianapolis, and formerly of Bloomfield, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at home.  He was born on December 21, 1990, in Indianapolis, to Jerry Rogers, Sr. and Sadie Rose Kieninger. 

Jerry received his diploma on June 30, 2022, and was so proud of all he had accomplished.  He enjoyed working for Walsh Construction and loved his coworkers; he always said in amazement, “look at me building bridges.”  A picture of his crew on his Facebook page with the caption, “The Men who Build America,” sums it up best.  Jerry loved the Union he was in as well as the Carpenters Union Local 301.

Jerry recently started attending The Power of Prayer Community Church.  He had the most contagious smile and always had a good joke to tell; he could make you laugh, no matter what you may be going through. 

Survivors include, his son, Jerry “L.J.” Rogers, III.; mom, Sadie Rose Kieninger; dad, Jerry (Andrea) Rogers, Sr.; siblings, Ralph (Erin) Gonterman; Goldie (Timothy) Kieninger, Robert Kieninger, Adam (Cecily) Gilley and Annie (Antonio) Benson; nieces, Alayna, Brenda, Prestina, Alexis, Jazmine, Zoie, Olivia, Samiyah with another niece coming in 2024; nephews, Thoms, Nathaniel, Benjamin, Robert Jr. and Jordin; great-nephew, Jacob; and more family and friends that he loved, than can be counted.  Jerry was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Goldie Hockenberry and Opal Rogers, and his brother, Anthony Rogers. 

Family and friends will gather on Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis.  A service celebrating his life will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Davy Keen officiating.  The burial will take place in Washington Park East Cemetery.
