John J. Manicke, of Greenwood, IN passed away peacefully on October 17, 2021 at the age of 93. John was one of nine siblings, born to Stanley and Lucy (Bogumill) Manicke, growing up in Thorp and Black River Falls, Wisconsin.
John graduated with a Masters degree in Industrial Psychology from the University of Wisconsin in 1951 and pursued a life-long career interest in personnel management. In 1956, John married Lynne Klein and moved to San Francisco, CA. John held multiple human resource positions at several companies including Ladish (Milwaukee), Bechtel (San Francisco/Denver), Revere Electric (Chicago), National Homes (Lafayette) and the Simon Property Group (Indianapolis). Outside of work and family activities, John pursued many interests including portrait oil painting, wood boat restoration, golfing, model aircraft, classical music, group exercise and ballroom dancing.
John was preceded in death by his wife Lynne and grandson Brent. He is survived by his children John Manicke, Paul Manicke and Lisa Clements, his sister Donna, six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
John (Jack) was much loved by his family and by all he met for his kind heart, calm demeanor, love of the arts, harmonica playing, and compassion for others.
A memorial for John will be held at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation.
