Johnnie Lee Conlin, 71, of Indianapolis, passed away very unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 30, 2020. He was born on April 10 1949 in Indianapolis to the late John A. and Carol E. Conlin.
Johnnie graduated from Manuel High School in 1967 and attended the old Indiana Central. He had worked for Eli Lilly and Company for 13 years and then became the proud owner of Conlin Greenhouses’ from 1979 to 2002; he later retired in 2017 from National Starch/Ingredion.
Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Susie (Baker) Conlin; children, John Paul Conlin, Sherrie (Chad) Cummings and Amanda (John) Gordon; siblings, Bev (Jim) Donnelly, Danny (Vicky) Conlin, Beth Ann Reed, Mike (Sharon) Conlin, Patty (Glen) Stewart, Kevin (Denise) Conlin and Kelli Benner; grandchildren, Megan and Logan Conlin, Nathan and Emma Shimp, Tyler (Alena), Collin and Lucas Cummings, Jessica, Lilly, Tierra and Johnathan Gordon and Zane, Evey and Rex Byron; great-grandchild, Stella Ridgeway; and many, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Debra Williams; and grandchildren, Niki and Taylor Gordon.
Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, October 7 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1530 Union St., for visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 noon in church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions have been suggested to American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be provided at the church.
A luncheon will follow services at the home of Johnnie and Susie Conlin, all are welcome to attend.
