Joseph Michael Lewis

Joseph Michael Lewis, 66, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022 at his Indianapolis residence. The son of Earl Edward, Sr. and Mary Ann (O’Connor) Lewis, Joe was born Thursday, October 20, 1955 in Indianapolis.

Joe worked several years as a janitor with Stokely Van Camp. He was a member of Southwood Baptist Church in Beech Grove, where he was highly active with church functions. He loved his family and took pride in working in his yard. He like assisting his friends, tending to their yards, taking them to their doctor appointments and doing small home and automobile repairs for them. To pass time, he enjoyed watching movies on the Hallmark Channel and old sit-coms.

Joe is survived by daughters, Bridget A. (Larry) Hopkins of Greenwood and Danielle R. (Joseph) Hacker of Indianapolis; step-daughter, Brandy (Randy) Doty of Indianapolis; brothers, Earl E. Jr. (Jennifer) Lewis of Plainfield, James F. Lewis and Patrick J. Lewis, both of Indianapolis; sisters, Sandra M. Cain of Indianapolis and Lillie Ann (Monty) Jarrett of Gosport; five grandsons, Steven A. (Shandi) Hopkins, Daniel Hacker, Andrew Hacker, Travis Hopkins and William Hacker, two step-grandchildren, Elizabeth Doty and Ian Doty; three great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lynn Edwards Lewis on Thursday, August 22, 2013.

Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St., with a service following visitation at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Indianapolis.
