Judy Schumacher September 3, 1936 – June 10, 2025
Judith Gail Whybrew was born in Marion, Indiana on September 3, 1936, the first child of Dan and Elizabeth Whybrew. The family moved to Indianapolis, eventually settling in northwestern Pike Township in 1945.
Judy graduated from Pike High School in 1954 and was her class secretary. She attended Indiana University, graduating from the School of Education in 1958 and was a member of the Mortar Board Honor Society.
In the Summers of 1956 and 1957 she worked in the Indianapolis Indians ticket office where she met her future husband, Max Schumacher. They married in December 1958.
She raised four children and was active in their school and extracurricular activities.
She went back to school and got her Masters in Elementary Education from Butler University. She then taught Elementary Education as a professor at Marian College before retiring in 1996.
Judy is survived by her husband of 66 years, Max Schumacher. Sons: Bruce (Jo), Brian, Mark (Beth): daughter Karen; Grandchildren: Rachel, Grace, Sara, Abigail and Casey Schumacher. Sisters: Lynn Bartholomew (Jack) and Brenda Elmore (Mike); brother Dan Whybrew (Anna).
Judy will be remembered for her love of Baseball (attending and keeping score at Indianapolis Indians games throughout her life), Big Band music and her devotion to her family.
