Kenneth Lee Fisher, 70, of Indianapolis and formerly Olney, Illinois, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023, in Franciscan Hospice House. He was born on November 6, 1952, in Lawrenceville, Illinois, to Loren Ralph Fisher and Doris (Berry) Fisher. He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Joe Fisher. Ken married the love of his life, Christine Elizabeth (Bones) Fisher, on July 6, 1974, in Olney, Illinois.
Ken grew up in Sumner, Illinois, graduating from Sumner High School in 1970, and then moved on to play baseball for Olney Central College. He was a faithful Christian, an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, and battled Parkinson’s Disease for 15 years. Many children were coached over the years by Ken through Olney Little League Baseball or Junior Pro Basketball. As his children grew up, you could find Ken announcing at the East Richland High School Baseball games or helping his wife run the visitor concession stand for football games. He was involved in his children’s lives, and many others fondly remember him filling “dad shoes.” He was very active, charismatic, and known for his ability to fix almost anything. Summer vacations almost always included a trip to Busch Stadium or catching the Cardinals when they were in a city where the family was vacationing. Ken faithfully worshiped with the Christians at Olney church of Christ for over 30 years before he and his wife moved to Indianapolis, and then worshiped with the Christians at Bargersville church of Christ. Ken loved God and was prayerful that others would know and love God - “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth (3 John 4).”
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Christine Fisher; mother, Doris Fisher; children, Dawn (Brian) Williams, Cody (Lynn) Fisher, Kendra (Daniel) Haithcox, and Kyle (Katie) Fisher; sister, Brenda (Albert) Haraway; grandchildren, Kodie Williams, Brittany Williams, Tiffany Williams, Kennedy Williams, Bailey Steele, Claire Steele, Brody Steele, Kylie Fisher, Klara Fisher, and expecting his 10th grandchild in November.
