Kimberly Davis Obituary

Kimberly Jo Davis, 63, of Indianapolis and formerly of South Bend, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021.  She was born on June 11, 1958 in South Bend, Indiana, to Charles E. Davis and Doris L. Allen; both survive.

Kim attended Riley High School in South Bend. She worked for the Conrail Elkhart Yard YMCA and later was a Prep Chef at Arthur’s Restaurant in Elkhart, IN. After moving to Indianapolis, she worked at Ryan’s steak house, as an operator for Opticom and then for Sam’s Club Café both in Greenwood, IN.

Kim was a very loving, kind and selfless person; referred to by family, friends and neighbors as “good people.”  She was a very good listener and was the best big sister to all her siblings who will miss her dearly, especially her great sense of humor.  Kim loved going to lunch with friends, having long conversations about any topic over the phone and reaching out to friends on Facebook.  She had a vast knowledge about anything Wizard of Oz which she passed her love for onto her siblings.  Kim always gave thoughtful gifts she knew her siblings would love which included Shel Silverstein’s poems in Where the Sidewalk Ends; they in turn shared this with their children.

She encouraged her love for music to her siblings starting with the popular 70’s groups such as the Osmonds, Partridge Family, and The Monkees in the 60’s and 70’s. Kim loved many genres of music, though, which included Elvis to Rosemary Clooney to Elton John to Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn.  She owned many 45’s & LP’s (aka. “Vinyl”).  She was a night owl and claimed to be a TV junkie and loved a wide variety of dramas and sitcoms.  Kim was also a big movie buff and adored all of the old classic movies and musicals, including Mary Poppins, Dr. Dolittle, Gone with the Wind and many others featuring Judy Garland, Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe, John Wayne, and of course, Elvis.  She was probably one of the first to own one of the original giant VCR players!  She was the best dog mama and leaves behind Forrest (Pug), Jesse (Pug/Blue Heeler) and Sadie (American Pit Bull Terrier Lab mix).

Survivors include her mother, Doris Allen of Indianapolis; Father and Stepmother, Charles Elwin and Janet Davis of South Bend; sisters, Kelly (Rob) Brunes of Indianapolis, Jeri (Paul) Gilb of Merrifield, Minnesota and Jacki (former spouse Joe) Beath of South Bend; brothers, Charles R. (Beth) Davis of Osceola, Indiana and Scott E. Davis of South Bend; Nephews and nieces, Benjamin and Samuel Brunes of Indianapolis, Mitchell (Annalise) Gilb of Bemidji, MN, Taylor (Shannon) Gilb of Deer River, MN, Zachary (Megan) Gilb of Aitkin, MN, Jacob (Tiffany) Gilb of Brainerd, MN, Jarod (Brooke) Gilb of Lakeshore, MN, Emily Beath of South Bend, Michael Beath of South Bend, Patrick Beath of South Bend, Brandon Potter (Marine Corporal Sargent E-6) currently in Moscow, Russia; great nephews and nieces, Brendan Gilb of Lansing, IL, Kaleb Gilb of Taylors Falls, MN, Abrahm Gilb of Ossipee, MN, Oakley Michael of South Bend,  and a few more on the way!

“Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never the same again.” –Kim’s favorite quote by Flavia Weedn
