Laura Mae “Sis” McClain, age 67, of Indianapolis, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 23, 2026.
Laura was born on November 18, 1958, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Jerry Sr. and Joyce (York) Anderson.
Though she could be a little rough around the edges, Laura was a beautiful soul who loved unconditionally, and often to a fault. She adored her parents and devoted herself to caring for them in their final years. Her father especially cherished the moments when she sang to him. Music was one of Laura’s greatest joys—she loved the songs of George Jones, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, and Loretta Lynn, and her personal favorite to sing was always “Harper Valley PTA.”
In her later years, Laura was a homebody who found comfort in spoiling her cats and caring for the neighborhood strays. She enjoyed watching I Love Lucy, Judge Judy, Everybody Loves Raymond, and true crime shows.
Laura was a selfless person who consistently put the feelings and needs of her loved ones above her own. She was the person you could always talk to when you needed to vent. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and best friend, Barbara Jean Slusher, and her brothers Robert, Tony, and David Anderson.
She is survived by her children: Melissa McClain, Shawna Frazier, Raymond Keith McClain, Kim McClain, Spring McClain, and Lisa McClain; numerous grandchildren (16) and great-grandchildren (13); and her siblings, Jerry Jr. (Butch), Helen (Angie), and Tina Anderson.
At the family’s request, no services will be held at this time. A celebration of life may be planned at a later date.
Arrangements and care were entrusted to Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services.
