Laura Lynn (Toney) Standeford

Laura Lynn Standeford, 73, passed away Sunday, May 5th, 2024. She had fought a long hard battle with Multiple System Atrophy, a very rare degenerative nerve disease. Laura was the daughter of Robert and Ruth Toney.

Laura was a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, attending Washington township schools and studied computer technology at IUPUI, receiving awards from IBM for innovative programming techniques. Laura was an accomplished weaver spending many hours at her loom creating, she enjoyed tedious hobbies.

For much of her life Laura was an avid runner, running the Indianapolis 500 Mini-Marathon numerous times as well as the Indianapolis Marathon and Louisville Marathon. She enjoyed her trips to Sanibel Island and swimming in the gulf. Laura worked most of her life in the finance business, retiring from Chrysler Credit. Laura will be most remembered by her friends and neighbors for being the persevering gardener, her love of her dogs and the ability to talk your ear off. Laura was truly "a bird in the world".

She is sorely missed by her husband of 51 years, Fred, and her dog Josie. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and a brother and a sister. 

Services will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis.  Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm with short service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Loral Tansy officiating.
