Margie Lorraine Edwards, 74, of Indianapolis, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
Born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1950, in Yeager, Kentucky, Lorraine was the cherished daughter of the late Earl Edison and Della Myrtle (Mullins) Justice. She grew up surrounded by family and faith, carrying those values with her throughout her life.
Lorraine was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother whose greatest joy was her family. As she raised her children, she was often the sole support of the household. She would often take extra time and care to make special meals for them. She sacrificed for the sake of her family and her children were truly her pride and joy. She was the heart of the family. She was blessed with three amazing grandchildren and she delighted in each of them and doted on them as often as she could, they were a great source of joy.
Lorraine really enjoyed spending time with her family. She also took joy in music, puzzles, and gardening. Bluegrass and country music were her favorite styles of music. She appreciated Loretta Lynn enough to name her daughter after her. The Stanley Brothers were a favorite as well. There is a video of her singing karaoke to “I saw the light” that her family adores. She liked playing games like Yahtzee or rummy, which she won more often than not. Crossword puzzles were her favorite pastime; they kept her sharp and curious. If you were around her while she was working on a puzzle, she would inevitably ask for your thoughts on a crossword puzzle clue. During summer, she would have a large vegetable garden. She absolutely loved garden tomatoes!
She had a gentle spirit and a warm smile that made everyone feel welcome. She was generous with hugs and her time. Those lucky enough to know her would say that she was stubborn, loyal, honest and caring. She will be greatly missed and forever treasured.
She is survived by her children, Terry Edwards, Cathy (Michael) Brooks, and Kelly (Joel) Harris; siblings, Verlin Justice, Audrey Trobaugh, Harold Dean (Sue) Justice, and Jimmy Justice; and grandchildren, Savannah and Anoah Ivic. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edwards; her daughter Joyce Edwards; her parents, Earl and Della Justice; brothers, Darrel and Charles Allen Justice; two baby sisters including her twin; and grandson, Anthony Ivic.
Family and friends will gather on Friday, December 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral Home, 1458 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis, with a funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial will follow services in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield, Indiana.
