Luca Lee Schmatz
With broken hearts, Danielle and Jacob share the loss of their beloved son, Luca Lee Schmatz, who was born sleeping on February 26, 2026. Luca arrived on a day that will always hold special meaning, sharing his birthday with his dad.
Though his time with us was far too short, Luca was deeply loved and will always be cherished. For 33 weeks we dreamed of him, felt his tiny movements, and imagined the life we would share.
Though Luca never opened his eyes, he was deeply loved from the very beginning. In his short but beautiful time, he filled his parents’ hearts with a lifetime of love. And though we never heard his cry, he made us parents and changed us forever.
Luca weighed 3 pounds 14 ounces and measured 17.5 inches long. His hands and feet were perfect, his face was beautiful, and he will always be a part of our family and forever in our hearts.
Luca will be forever loved by his parents, Danielle and Jacob; his furry siblings, Bo Bear, MJ, and Ivy; and many family members and friends who were waiting to welcome him with love.
A private burial will be held for Luca.
The family is deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support they have received during this difficult time. Those wishing to honor Luca’s memory may send flowers to the funeral home, or honor him in any way that feels meaningful to them.
Forever loved. Forever our son. We will look for you in the quiet signs and the little moments that remind us you are always with us.
