Lucille Gilbert, 90, of Greenwood, formerly of Lawrence, died January 12, 2021 at Franciscan Hospice House. She was born March 2, 1930 in Hustonville, Kentucky to the late Sam and Sue (Holt) Burchett.
Lucille was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, doing crafts, collecting ducks, following the Indianapolis Colts and enjoying the occasional Fifth Avenue candy bar.
Lucille is survived by sons, Ernest D. (Gerri) Gilbert of New Palestine and Jack L. (Connie) Gilbert of Shelbyville; daughters, Sharon S. Tirey (Roger Blackwell) of Martinsville, Donna K. Mayhew (David Shirley) of Greenwood and Deneen (Marshall W.) Ash of Greenwood; sisters, Josie Goins and Naomi Burchett of Danville, Kentucky, Jewel Scott of Brooklyn and Pam Lusk of Stanford, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death of five brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. January 19, 2021 at Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 South Meridian Street, Indianapolis, where family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Graveside committal services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. at Washington Park East Cemetery, 10800 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, with burial to follow.
