Lynda Louise Johnson, 71, of Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. She was born on February 23, 1952, in Indianapolis, to the late Malcolm and Margaret (Noel) Earley.
Lynda was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, IN. In her adult life, she worked her way up through the chain and enjoyed being a district manager at Burger King for many years. She enjoyed this role as she was able to be a friend to all coworkers and patrons that crossed paths with her.
In her free time, she most enjoyed camping with her beloved friends and family. She loved coming up with silly games and stories for her children and grandchildren while sitting around the campfire, including games like marshmallow baseball. She also enjoyed socializing in bowling leagues, playing card games and had a great shot in darts. She never passed up an opportunity to ride a motorcycle. She was an avid animal lover, especially to her fur babies, Brandi, Panda and Princess.
She will be remembered most for her great sense of humor and hard work ethic. She loved to make anyone she met have a great laugh. She never met a stranger in her life. She made strangers feel like friends and friends feel like family. She had a soft side when it came to helping others; she took in many people throughout the years.
In her later years, she enjoyed the time she spent at both the Forest Creek and Rosegate nursing facilities. She had many caretakers and co-residents that she welcomed into her extended family. Lynda’s family is forever grateful for the care she received during these years.
She is survived by her children, Marcy Earley Wardwell, Mary Maddox Chockley (Todd) and Wiley Maddox III; siblings, Lynnetta Bryant (Eddie) and Terry Craig; grandchildren, James Spears (Skya), Brandon Wardwell (MaSie), Brooke Wardwell, Katelyn Slagle, Jasmine Maddox and Abbey Maddox; great-grandchildren, Aubrianna, Owen and Maybrie. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother, (Ronald Early), sister-in-law (Jean Early), and sister (Barbara Jean Compton).
A celebration of life will be held in the future.
