Magalene “Maggie” Estep, 76, of Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, in Franciscan Health Hospital. She was born on December 18, 1947, in Manchester, Kentucky, to the late Clayton and Lena (Harris) Hannon.
She met the man of her dreams, Joe Estep, when she was employed with Stewart & Warner on March 17, 1982 (St. Patrick’s Day) at the drinking fountain. He wasn’t wearing green and so she decided to take his coat home, the rest is history and lead to a beautiful marriage of 42 years.
Maggie was a past treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post 2999 on English Ave. She retired from the Marion County Sheriff’s Department after 12 years as a processor. Maggie loved her family, was crafty and an avid reader. She had a great attitude about life and didn’t let things bother her. Maggie will be truly missed by her loving family and dear friends.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Joe Estep; children, Fred (Alicia) Fleener, Brandon Fleener, Jeffrey Estep and Kathy Jo “K.J.” (Bob) Denton; brother, Eddie Hannon; sister, Joan (John) Rose; grandchildren, Krystalen, Tara, Amber, Amanda, Jeffrey, Eli, Austin and Gracie; great-grandchildren, Maddylen, Ellie, Addie, Rowan, Margot, Leland, Wrenlee, Emery, Claire and Chloe. She was preceded in death by grandchildren, Brandon II, Brianna, Britney and Freddie IV.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis. A service celebrating her life will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor John Couch officiating.
Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post 2999. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
