Marcelino Nicolas Quintana
Marcelino “Marce” Quintana died after a hard-fought battle surviving a massive stroke then succumbing to brain cancer. He was born on May 5th, 1963 in Indianapolis to Jesus Quintana, Sr., and Maria Ochoa Quintana. He was raised on the East Side of Indianapolis and was a 1982 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School. He had a wonderful singing voice, a gift from his father and played the lead in a number of the school musicals, Annie Get Your Gun and Guys and Dolls. He spent his way too short 56 years living life to the fullest. Well known as a “fierce hospitality guru”, he mentored and befriended many in the Indianapolis restaurant industry.
Marce started his career opening restaurants here in Indy including Salvatore Scallopini, Key West Shrimp House, Palomino, Ruth Chris Steakhouse both downtown and 86th Street. He was well known at Zoobilation for winning top prizes for best themed restaurant with his over the top costumes and designs. Marce took pride in decorating for the Christmas Holidays. He would gather the staff and transform Palomino and Ruth Chris with amazing holiday decorations.
During his illness his family was comforted by all of the well wishes and words of support from the many people Marcelino touched over the years. He had helped so many whether looking out for a friend’s ill parent or coming in at the last minute to cater a wedding reception when the original caterer fell sick.
