Margaret Mary (Stahl) Strack

Margaret Mary (Stahl) Strack, 85, of Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

Margaret was born in Indianapolis, on December 11, 1937, to the late Carl G. and Rose V. (Norris) Stahl.  She was raised in Sacred Heart Parish and attended their school.   

Margaret graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1956 and from St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing in 1959.  She was a Nurse at St. Francis Hospital and Southside Healthcare and was a Daisy volunteer at the Hermitage in Beech Grove.

She married the love of her life, George P. Strack, on September 29, 1962; she missed him so very much since his passing in April of 2019.

Survivors include her children, Andrea Carver, Theresa (John) Chaniga, David Strack and Jeanine (Mark) Currans.  Grandchildren, Emily, Meghan, Erin, Abbey, Nathan and Logan.  Great-Granddaughter, Kate Margaret (and another on the way).  Brothers, James and William Stahl, sister, Carolyn O’Donnell and Yoko Boyer.  Numerous nieces and nephews, who she loved and cared for as her own.  She was always in attendance at family and friend celebrations and had many life-long friends, cousins and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Richard Stahl, Rosie Dufek and Dody Smith.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 8 at 11 a.m. in St. Mark Catholic Church with visitation prior to Mass in the church from 9 to 11 a.m.   Family burial at St. Joseph Cemetery on a later date.
