Margaret “JoAnn” Calvin, 94, Indianapolis (Franklin Township), passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024. She was born November 23, 1930, to John Benjamin Cooper and Bessie Mae Penny Cooper.
She was raised with 9 brothers and sisters: William L. Cooper, Robert E. Cooper, John B. Cooper Jr., Richard L. Cooper, Charles Cooper, Gene T. Cooper, Betty J. Cooper Thornton-Wilson, Mary A. Cooper Smith Cook, Shirley Cooper Wayman.
JoAnn retired from Legal Services, as a legal secretary, after 25 years of service. She was a devoted volunteer for the annual Granny Harper Picnic and enjoyed working outdoors on her home. She enjoyed puzzles, trips to Las Vegas, riding horses, raising chickens, Tetris, grocery shopping, watching NASCAR races and Colts games, bowling, her two late kittens DeeDee and Rusty, and caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who got to know her.
JoAnn is survived by her children, Mark Calvin, Pamela Pelton, Rick Calvin, and Michelle Calvin; grandchildren Scott Pelton, Brent Calvin; great-grandchild Nathan Calvin.
A graveside service will be held at Orchard Hill Cemetery on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
