Marianne D. (Lowe) Hermann, 92, passed away at home on August 5, 2022. Marianne was born on January 21, 1930, to Arthur Ellis Lowe and Violet Elizabeth (Shaver) Lowe. She graduated from St. John Academy, Indianapolis, in 1947 and began working at Catholic Charities. A coworker, Jane (Hermann) Ritter introduced her brother, Richard (Dick) W. Hermann.
Marianne and Dick married on August 5, 1950, at St. Catherine Catholic Church and raised 6 children with an appreciation for hard work and good deeds, with a lot of fun and neighborhood friends as well (she would often joke that their house was always full of kids and activities). Dick preceded her in death 15 years ago and it is very fitting they were together again on their 72nd anniversary.
Also preceding Marianne in death: sister, Elizabeth Viola Lowe, sons, Richard J. and Robert J. Hermann, daughters Beth Finney and Suzanne Sahm, daughter in law, Leigh Hermann, granddaughters Megan Finney and Karissa Gindling, great grandson, Lincoln Sahm, and nephew, Robert Lowe.
Marianne loved children and Christmas; especially Santa and loved to go out with grandchildren and little ones. She would often want to make “just one more stop” on those days and had quite a bit of energy even into her 90s.
She is survived by daughters Donna Williams and Dodie (Mark) Thie, sons in law, Jack Finney and Mike Sahm, daughter in law, Wanda Hermann, brother, Tom (Mary Jo) Lowe, 24 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 13 from 11 am to 1 pm at St. Roch Catholic Church, Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1 pm, with burial following at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Roch Catholic Church or to The Humane Society, 2600 S Harding St, Indianapolis, IN 46221.
