Mark Richard Montgomery, DDS

Dr. Mark Richard Montgomery, 69, of Nineveh, and formerly Kokomo, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024, in Johnson Memorial Hospital. He was born on January 14, 1955, in Indianapolis, to the late Raymond E. Montgomery and Betty Jean Brooks Montgomery-Swift. 

Mark attended St. Roch school and Southport High School. Mark was active in the Red Cross and Boy Scouts, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.  He graduated from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1982, starting his first practice in Batesville, Indiana, and retiring from his practice in Cicero, Indiana, in 2023. 

Mark loved spending time at his lake house on Prince’s Lakes, where he enjoyed boating, fishing, cooking and baking.  He looked forward to visiting with friends in the Florida Keys each year with his husband, Chuck Rockey, as well as spending time with family and friends at the lake house.  He will be truly missed. 

Survivors include his siblings, Cheryl (Gary) Gray, Paul Montgomery, Karen (Rick) Jacobs, John (Sharon) Montgomery and David (Julie) Montgomery; mother-in-law, Winni Rockey Campbell; brother-in-law, Robert E. Shotts; sisters-in-law, Lesa Gross, Monica Greengard and Jennifer Lewis; canine companions, Storm and Rose; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his loving husband, Charles Rockey; his parents; siblings Mary Shotts, Robert Montgomery and Thomas Montgomery; and niece Jennifer King.

Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, May 21st from 4 to 8 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 22nd at 10 a.m. in St. Roch Catholic Church, 3600 S. Pennsylvania St., with Fr. Douglas Hunter presiding.  Burial will follow services at 1 p.m. in New London Cemetery, 2104 S. 766 W., Russiaville, IN 46979.
