Mary Ann (Laker) Byrne, 85, of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024. The daughter of the late Alphonse J. and Anna C. (Reigel) Laker, Mary Ann was born Saturday, July 23, 1938 in Beech Grove, Indiana.
Mary Ann was a 1956 graduate of Sacred Heart High School. A homemaker, she was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Teamsters Local 135, played on some euchre clubs and bowled with several bowling leagues. Mary Ann enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles and had an ample collection of Word Search books.
Mary Ann is survived by her eight children, Rose Ann Byrne, Chris (Dale) Eland, Larry (Susie) Byrne, Dan (Sally) Byrne, Carl G. (Jackie) Byrne, Don (Meg) Byrne, Rick (Effie) Byrne and Charlie Byrne. She is also survived by her eight siblings, Agnes (Clyde) Kerr, Joseph (Meg) Laker, John Laker, Tom (Mary Kay) Laker, Mark (Eleanor) Laker, Rosina (Steve) Starks, Cathy (Pete) Kropp and Bernie Laker. Other survivors include her 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Ervin Byrne in 2002.
Family and friends may call on Friday, February 16, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 South Meridian Street, Indianapolis and on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2905 Carson Avenue, Indianapolis, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
