Mary Jean Yanes, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at her home in North Port, Florida with family by her side. Mary Jean was born on December 13, 1938 in Washington, Indiana to the late Kenneth and Lodena (Myers) Summers.
Mary Jean graduated from St. Mary High School in Indianapolis and married the love of her life, Robert “Chico” Yanes on May 25, 1963. She enjoyed her job as a telephone operator at AT&T in Indianapolis for over 38 years, while her and Chico raised their 3 children (Bob, Mike and Lisa). Mary Jean was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family and the church. She was very caring and always provided love and support to her family. Mary Jean was also a devoted and loving grandmother, providing care for her grandchildren as they were growing up.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Yanes; sons, Robert “Bob” Yanes (Linda) and Michael Yanes; sister Nancy Garza; and grandchildren, Andrea Radford (Justin), Bailey Cope, Carson White, Austin White and Nick Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Chico” Yanes and sister, Margaret “Mickey” Gibbs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Roch Catholic Church, 3600 S. Pennsylvania St., with visitation at the church one hour prior to Mass starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow services at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis.
