Michael Steve Grimmitt

Michael Steve Grimmitt, 75, of Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.  He was born on December 4, 1949, in Columbus, Kentucky, to the late John D. and Emma Lee (Stephens) Grimmitt.

Mike was a graduate of Harry E. Wood High School, class of 1968.  He played softball for many years and enjoyed being in the senior leagues.  He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed gambling.  His greatest joy was in coaching his kids; he never missed a game and was a great father.     

Survivors include his children, Yonna (Rob Young) Cates and Mike (Kacie) Grimmitt; brother, Dale Grimmitt; and grandchildren, Erin and Evie Grimmitt.  Mike was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Tona A. (Pedigo) Grimmitt. 

Family and friends will gather on Saturday, February 8 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis.  A short service will follow at 2:30 with a eulogy and a time to share memories.  Burial:  Floral Park Cemetery.
