Michael Raymond Shotts, Sr., 57, of Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. He was born on March 4, 1968, to Robert E. Shotts, Jr. and Mary Katherine (Montgomery) Shotts.
Mike was a proud graduate of Perry Meridian High School, where he also attended the Central 9 Career Center to study automotive technology. He went on to spend four decades as a dedicated mechanic, earning ASE Certification early in his career and building a reputation for his skill, patience, and willingness to help anyone who needed a hand. Outside of work, Mike found joy in fishing and had a deep love for music, both of which brought him peace throughout his life.
He is survived by his father; his children, Michael Raymond (Tera) Shotts, Jr. and Jessica Dawn Shotts; his sister, Vicki (Nick) Vivaldi; his brother, Robert D. Shotts; and his grandsons, Ethan and Isaac Shotts. He is also remembered fondly by several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Katherine Shotts, his sister, Jennifer L. King, his maternal and paternal grandparents, and several uncles.
Family and friends will gather on Thursday, March 5, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lauck & Veldhof Funeral Home, 1458 S. Meridian Street, Indianapolis. Dress is casual. A service will follow at 1 p.m. with Fr. Douglas Hunter officiating. Mike will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood.
