Michael Wayne Spencer, 69, of Indianapolis died on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at his home. He was born on October 10, 1949 in Indianapolis to the late William and Florence Spencer.
Michael will be remembered for his love of his country, family and music. He served his country by enlisting in the Army during the Vietnam War. His favorite music was country and “Family Tradition” by Hank Williams was his all time favorite song. In addition to his love of music, Michael was a gifted musician and he will be remembered for his uplifting guitar playing. He also enjoyed watching movies with family and friends; two of his favorite movies were“Great Balls of Fire” and “We were soldiers”.
He is survived by his daughter, Kerri Anne Thomas (Chris) of Lebanon; his two sisters, Teresa Ennis of Indianapolis and Sharon Logsdon (Jeff) of Beech Grove; his two grandchildren, Aaron and Joshua Hedges; his one great grandchild, Kaylee Anne Hedges. He is also survived by numerous extended family and close friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his three brothers, James, Daryl, and Rick; and his two sisters, Oma Logsdon and Sherry Lee Spencer.
A celebration of Michael's life will be held from 11 until 1 p.m.on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the VFW Beech Grove Post 5626 (249 N. 6th Ave, Beech Grove, IN 46107), with a military service held at 11:00 a.m at the VFW.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Compassion Center (2616 S. Shelby Street, Indianapolis, IN 46203) in Michael's memory.
