Nada Tayar, 78, of Indianapolis and formerly of Syria, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023. She was born in Talkalakh, Syria, on April 25, 1944, to the late George Tayar and Samira Makdisi. Nada wed her husband, Pier Lutfi, on July 23, 1972, and together they immigrated to the United States to be with their adult children, and their families, in 2017.
Nada was a traditional homemaker in every sense, she managed daily family life, was an excellent cook, kept a spotless home and was totally devoted to her family. She exuded class and strength, embodying a dignified presence that commanded respect. Nada was very generous, had a big heart and loved her family dearly. She will truly be missed by her loving husband and family, who cared for her while she struggled with end stage renal disease.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Pier Lutfi; daughter, Reem Lutfi and her husband, Bassel Shneker; son, Riad Lutfi and his wife, Melissa Redden; brother, Safwan Tayar and family; and sisters, Najwa Tayar, Ilham Tayar and Mouna Tayar and their families; grandchildren, Nicholas Shneker, Thomas Shneker and Jad Lutfi. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Marwan Tayar.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, 317 N. New Jersey St., Indianapolis, IN. Visitation will be held prior to Mass in the Church from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. The recitation of the rosary will begin at 10:45 a.m. just prior to Mass. Following services, burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, 435 W. Troy Ave., Indianapolis.
