Nita Susan Aldridge, 73, of Plainfield, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Indiana University Hospital West. Born on April 8, 1953, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Ruby (Fiscus) Lineback.
On March 13, 1976, Nita married the love of her life, Richard David Aldridge. Together they recently celebrated 50 years of marriage, a milestone that reflected the deep love and devotion they shared throughout their lives.
A proud member of the Ben Davis High School Class of 1970, Nita dedicated many years to the medical field. She began her career transcribing medical records at IU Methodist Hospital before retiring from CDI as a Medical Editor.
Nita was a faithful and active member of St. Susanna Catholic Church, where she generously shared her time and talents through the Ladies Club, Parish Council, Prayer Line, and Faith Formation programs. Her faith was an important part of her life and guided her commitment to serving others.
An Indiana Master Gardener, Nita found great joy in working with flowers and plants and volunteered with the Plainfield Parks Department. She also enjoyed shopping and spending peaceful days fishing with her husband, Rick. Always practical and resourceful, she became a Longaberger Basket consultant to grow her beloved collection and even earned her real estate license to help find the family's dream home while saving on commission costs.
Above all else, Nita cherished her family. Nothing brought her greater happiness than being "Grandma" to her three beloved grandchildren, Mackenzie, Olivia, and Lynleigh. The time she spent with them created treasured memories that will be forever held close by those who loved her.
Nita is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Richard D. Aldridge; her daughters, Tracey (Robert) Samuels and Jaime Frayer; her brother, Charles (Christy) Lineback; her sister, Lisa (Daniel) Vogel; and her cherished grandchildren, Mackenzie Frayer, Olivia Wood, and Lynleigh Wood.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, James and Michael Lineback, and her beloved dog, Murphy.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, July 16, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at St. Susanna Catholic Church, 1210 E. Main Street, Plainfield, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon with Fr. Rob Hausladen presiding. Burial will follow at West Ridge Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions have been suggested to the St. Susanna Parish/School Security Fund or Servants at Work, Inc. (built Nita a ramp). Envelopes will be provided at the church.
