Nora Jean Cummings

Nora J. Cummings, 86, born in Cincinnati, Ohio on Sept. 5, 1934 died in Indianapolis, IN on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, the 8th of 10 children born to Dr. Leonard and Marie (Neagle) Cummings. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, John, Richard, Patricia Lackey, Robert, William, Kathleen, Gerald, James and Eileen and is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. 

Nora received her M.Ed. from Xavier University and taught in Catholic primary schools in the Cincinnati area.  During the years 1967 -1973, she was a missionary in Papua New Guinea.  In 1974 she received her MSW from North Texas State and became a social worker for Family Service Association in Indianapolis and was involved in many Church and Civic Organizations.    

Family and friends will gather on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 10 to 11 a.m. in SS. Peter & Paul Cathedral, Indianapolis.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. and it will also be lived streamed at https://youtu.be/o-mp19X05tI 

Burial will take place on Monday, March 8 at 11 a.m. in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Cincinnati.
