R. Scott Beck, Jr.

R. Scott Beck, Jr., 57, of Indianapolis, passed on Thursday, March 16, 2023.  He was born on June 4, 1965, in Indianapolis, the beloved son of Robert S. Beck and Lucy (Lang) Miller. 

Scott loved to ride his Harley Davidson and was an avid coin collector.  He loved to listen to music, it was his therapy.  He was gracious and giving and was the first to make a stranger feel welcomed and at ease.  His smile was infectious, and it was very important to him that he made others smile in return.  He was an entertaining storyteller, and boy did he have stories to tell!  He travelled to and lived in many places, but was the happiest when he was close to the ocean.    

Survivors include his father, Robert S. Beck, and his wife Sherry; sister, Robin S. Beck; brother, James D. McCord, and his wife, Donna and their daughters, Lily and Lucy; step-sister, Susan Bishop.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucy Miller. 

Family and friends will gather on Saturday, March 25 from 11 to 12 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral Home, 1458 S. Meridian St., with a eulogy given by his brother, Jim McCord followed by a brief prayer service by Fr. Douglas Hunter at 12 noon.  A graveside committal service will follow in Calvary Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. 

The family has suggested memorial contributions in Scott’s memory to the American Heart Association or the Indianapolis Humane Society.  Envelopes will be provided by the funeral home.
