Raymond Clark Gates

Raymond C. Gates, 70, Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.  He was born on October 4, 1954, in Indianapolis, to the late Charles and Mary Frances (Bardy) Gates.  Raymond married his high school sweetheart, Marianne (Halloran) Gates, on October 27, 1979. 

Raymond focused much of his life around his Catholic faith and was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church since 1979.  He was a graduate of Roncalli High School, class of 1972.  Raymond’s dry and candid sense of humor allowed for a lot of fun and laughter for his family and friends. 

Raymond and Marianne had two sons, Patrick M. and Matthew C., who blessed them with eight grandchildren, Andrea J., Austin D., Alexis R., Malena S, Isaiah L., Brooklyn N., Lucas G. and Hayden D.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Michael, Clifford and David. 

Survivors include his loving wife, Marianne; sons, Patrick (Ashley) and Matthew; sister, Sharon; brother, Daniel; and eight grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1530 Union St., Indianapolis.  Visitation will be held in the church prior to Mass from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.  Inurnment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions have suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Envelopes will be provided at the church.
