Rebecca Monique James, 80, of Indianapolis, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025. She was born in Laurel, Mississippi, on May 11, 1944, and raised by her late mother Ruby Williams.
Rebecca was the personal assistant to late Flip Wilson, a comedian/actor. She raised her children in West Hollywood and had a wide network of friends, of whom, she always made feel special. Rebecca loved to cook, play cards, scratch off lottery tickets and watch movies. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and talking with family and friends.
Survivors include her loving children, Derrick (Ruthie Clark-Morris) Morris, Kim Aynes and Michael (Jessica) James; brother, William Haynes; grandchildren, Cesar Rolando Chavez, Manuel Morris, Angelique Aynes, Racena Shively, Leila James and Rylen James; and grand-dogs, Addy and Indie. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Robert Aynes, and grandson, Broderick Shively.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday, February 22 from 12 noon to 3 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis. A short prayer service will follow at 3 p.m. with Fr. Douglas Hunter officiating.
Memorial contributions have been suggested to The American Kidney Foundation or The American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
