Rita Faye Ferguson McCoy, 69, of Indianapolis, passed away at home on Saturday, November 11, 2023, with her family by her side. She was born on February 21, 1954, in Cumberland County, Kentucky, to the late Granton and Audrey (Garner) Ferguson.
Rita retired from United Technology Carrier after 32 years of employment. She enjoyed camping, boating and working in her yard. Rita was a caring and generous person, who loved her family time. Her great-granddaughter, Lani Faye was the apple of her eye as well as her granddaughter, Tara Faye. Rita’s favorite holiday was Thanksgiving, and she was known to enjoy her Miller Lite. She will be missed, and this Thanksgiving will be especially hard without her.
Survivors include her son, Jason (Tonya) McCoy; sister, Theresa Childs; brother, Bruce (Phyllis) Ferguson; grandchildren, Tara Faye (Devin) McCoy, Sierra Goode, Destiny (Mike) Brown and Patty Brown; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Derek McCoy; brother, Earl Ferguson; and niece, Angela.
Family and friends will gather on Thursday, November 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Service, 1458 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis. A service celebrating her life will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Tim Fluty.
In lieu of flowers, Rita’s wishes were to have memorial contributions to her granddaughter, Tara Faye McCoy, to help with her final expenses.
