Rita M. Richards

Rita M. Richards, age 69, of Greenwood, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021 at Franciscan Hospital.  She was born on February 12, 1951 in Greensburg, Indiana to the late Elmer and Marie (Allen) Richards.

Rita was raised on a farm and grew up attending Mt. Aeire Baptist Church as a child.  She was a graduate of South Decatur High School, class of 1969 and started her professional career with Blue Cross and Blue Shield later retiring from Anthem.  

Rita enjoyed serving on two mission trips to Russia and the Ukraine.  She was a member of Grace Evengelical Church where she enjoyed being a “greeter.”  Her home was always open to host Bible Studies, she was generous and kind-hearted.  Rita loved her fur babies Bean and Murphy, God, gardening and feeding the birds.  She will truly be missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her brother, Norman L. Richards, cousins and many dear friends.     

Memorial contributions have been suggested to the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674.
