Robert Eugene Blake, 87, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 25, 2026, with his daughter, Christina, by his side. He was born on September 15, 1938, in Indianapolis to the late Charles Franklin and Emily Marie (Osbourne) Blake. On November 19, 1960, he married the love of his life, Alma Marie (Pringle) Blake, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Bob dedicated 32 years to A & H/Advance Trucking as a truck driver before retiring. He was a proud member of Teamsters Union Local No. 135 in Indianapolis. Bob found joy in caring for his birds, playing Euchre, and spending time at his beloved lake house on Lake Lemon. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he rarely missed a game and always had an opinion on the officiating—many would say he would have made an excellent referee himself.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Alma Blake; his daughter, Christina (Sam) Tuley; his cherished granddaughter, Samantha Tuley; his special nephew, George Gates; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Elkins; his brothers, Dick Gaither, Don Blake, and Joe Blake; and his special nephew, Bobby Gates, whom he helped raise.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, July 29, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Lauck & Veldhof Funeral Home, 1458 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:15 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1530 Union St., Indianapolis. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Rebuild My Church Campaign, 1530 Union St., Indianapolis, IN 46225.
