Robert “Bob” Eugene Stevens, 86, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020 at his Indianapolis home. Bob was born Tuesday, February 13, 1934 to the late Emery and Ruth (Johnson) Stevens in Mitchell, Indiana.
Bob served in the United States Army from June 1952 to July 1955, earning the National Defense Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany). After 20 plus years, he retired as a Tool and Die Operator with United Technologies. A man of Christian faith, Bob was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed taking his rod and reel to go fishing, spending time in his garden tending to his tomato plants and taking the opportunity to take up his color pencils and draw one of his many pieces of art.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sandra L. (Woolbright) Stevens of Indianapolis, whom he married Saturday, August 9, 1980; five children; seven stepchildren; several grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his only brother, Otis “Bud” L. Haselhulin.
Family and friends will gather from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2020 in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 South Meridian Street, Indianapolis, where funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Committal services with military honors will be conducted 3:00 p.m. at Floral Park Cemetery, Indianapolis.
