Roberto Armando Soto Montes, 74, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 11th, 2020. He was born on January 23rd, 1946 in Queretaro, Mexico to the late Ismael Soto Rodriguez & Carmen Montes Lozada.
He was a proud chef at Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California where he worked for many years until he moved to Indianapolis & worked at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse until he retired. He was a very hard worker & loved to stay busy.
Roberto was a strong patriarch of the family & the type of man to give the shirt off his back to anyone that needed it. He was never a man that loved material things & all the love that he had went to everyone around him rather than belongings.
He was a good man to all that knew him & he lived a long, happy life & was surrounded by immense love. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ismael Soto & Carmen Montes; brothers Francisco Ismael Soto Montes & Vicente Higinio Soto Montes. He is survived in his passing through his wife of 49 years Shelby Soto, daughter Tonya (Darren) Coffey, granddaughters Haley & Mariah Napier, his brothers & sisters, Delia Soto Montes, Guillermo Soto Montes, Sara Soto Montes, Gabriel Soto Montes, Ma. Carmen Soto Montes, Nora Virginia Baeza Montes & Jose Antonio Baeza Montes; as well as several nieces, nephews & cousins.
Our family wants to express our appreciation and gratefulness to all the nurses, doctors & staff working on the front lines at Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital for their kindness and compassion with Roberto. When the current health emergency is lifted, a memorial and celebration of Roberto’s life will take place at a later date.
