Roger “Tut” Bowen of Indianapolis, departed peacefully at home on April 13, 2026. He was born on December 25, 1940 in Red Fox Kentucky to the late Corbett and Ada ( Back ) Bowen. He lived a life defined by devotion, grit, and generosity. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He spent more than four decades serving Warren Township. First as a trusted mechanic at the Sunoco station, from the 1960s through the 1980s, where residents knew they would get skilled and reliable service every time and later as a respected garage foreman for the township. Even in retirement, he continued helping neighbors and friends with their cars.
He was a skilled shotgun still boar competitor, a catfish angler who could stay on the water from dusk to dawn, and a semi-pro gardener whose vegetables fed family and friends. His work ethic was unmatched and quiet afternoons on the porch were among his greatest joys.
For those who never met him, words cannot capture the man he was. For those who did, his memory is a testament to a life lived fully and with unwavering sincerity.
Roger is survived by wife, Rebecca, son Jonathan (Cathy) Bowen, children Kimberly (Joel) Cunningham, Suzanne (Jerry) Dinger, and Kenneth (Lori Frost) Jackson. Preceded in death by parents; Curtis Bowen, son; brothers, Glover and Royce Bowen; Sisters, Henrietta Clemons and Shelby Jean Pratt.
