Ronald Gene Kemp, 68, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025, at home with his loving family by his side.
Ronnie graduated from Arsenal Tech High School and was a certified plumber, following in his dad’s footsteps. He was a man of many trades, always there to lend a helping hand and worked in concrete for a brief period of time.
Ronnie loved life and was a fighter until the end. He loved being surrounded by his daughters and grandchildren. He loved to go camping with his family, cooking out and fishing with family and friends at Eagle Creek, with music and beer, graduating to whiskey. Ronnie was a friend to everyone he met and was known to take in a stranger if they needed a place to lay their head. He was always there to lend a hand if you needed any plumbing work in your home or your car repaired.
Ronnie enjoyed life to the fullest, often attending concerts in his younger days, some of his favorites were Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith and REO Speedwagon. In 1972, Ronnie, his older brother and four friends, hitchhiked in pairs to the Bulls Island - Three Day Festival in southern Indiana.
He was preceded death by his parents, Donald W. Kemp and Diana J. Saucerman-Kemp; wife Patti Kemp; grandson, Tyler Gill; and his former wife, Barbara Arthur.
Survivors include, his daughters, Crystal Hurst and Carmen (Tommy Bentley) Kemp; siblings, Ricky (Debbie) Kemp, Tammy Slagle, Karen (Rick) Lawson, Donna Kemp and David (Misty) Kemp; step-children, Missy Hunter and Jeremy Hunter; grandchildren, Destini (Josh), Noah, Katelynn, Braiden, Braxtin, CJ, Codi, Devin and Kayli; great-grandchildren, Bentlee, Phoenix and Ryan; and several nieces, nephews and grand-dogs of whom he loved dearly.
Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 1 to 3 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis, with a service following at 3 p.m. with Pastor Aaron Campbell officiating.
