Rosemary "Rosie" (Smith) Schmoll

Rosemary “Rosie” Schmoll, 82, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on April 26, 1942, in Beech Grove, to the late Joe and Audrey (Ward) Smith.  Rosie married the love of her life, Ronald James Schmoll, on September 17, 1960, in St. Roch Catholic Church.

Rosie was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, class of 1960, and went on to work for Empire Insurance prior to having children.  She not only stayed at home raising her four children, but also helped raise her grandchildren; she considered this her greatest accomplishment and was so proud of all of them.  Ron and Rosie owned and operated Schmoll’s Janitorial, she not only helped her husband in the early days but did all the bookkeeping.  Rosie was a longtime member of St. Roch Catholic Church where she helped with Funeral Meals and personally made all the Baptismal Bibs for over 25 years. She will be truly missed by her loving family and many good friends. 

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Ron Schmoll; children, Paul (Mary) Schmoll, Chris (Donnie) Bogardus, Jon (Angie) Schmoll and Julie Garcia; grandchildren, Heather (Chris) Hutchens, Megan (Josh) Justice, Chelsea (Adrian) Sitler, Caitlin (Sam) Hay, Christian (Ashley) Schmoll, Jake (Katie) Bogardus, Johnnie (Lexi) Bogardus, Halie (Shawn) Stinemetz, Allie (Jason) Doerrffler, Zach Schmoll, Angelina (Andrew Iaria) Schmoll, Ronnie (Hana) Schmoll, Isabella (Evan) McColly, Gianna Garcia and Andrea Radford; great-grandchildren, Britton, Emery, Paul, Eleanor, Rosemary, Jack, Brynnlee, Rubi, Roman, Jillian, Allie, Caleb, Olivia, Emma, Blake and Stella with future great-grandbabies on the way!  She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lois Mappes; granddaughter, Brittany Schmoll; and great-grandson, TJ. 

Family and friends will gather on Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 2 to 6 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St., with a Rosary Service prior to visitation at 1:45 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 9 at 12 noon in St. Roch Catholic Church, 3600 S. Pennsylvania St., with additional visitation prior to Mass at St. Roch starting at 11 a.m. A eulogy will precede the Mass in the church at 11:45 a.m.  Entombment:  Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions have been suggested to St. Roch Catholic Church or St. Roch Catholic School.  Envelopes will be provided at all services.
