Ross Anthony Mitchell, 17, of Indianapolis, died tragically on Monday, September 6, 2021. He was born on October 7, 2003 in Indianapolis to Shonda N. Mitchell and Ross A. Hunt. He was a senior at the XL Center in Indianapolis.
Ross was looking forward to graduating and pursuing his dream of joining the military after high school. He enjoyed working out and various kinds of organized fighting. Ross loved being with his family and in playing with his young nieces, Ezra and Mahiya and nephew Kameron. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include, his loving mother, Shonda Mitchell (Castro-Rodriguez); father, Ross A. Hunt; brothers, David P. Reyna (Catrina Peebles), Kevin C. Brotherton and Julio Castro-Rodriguez; grandmothers, Ruby Calzada and Diane Hunt; Uncle, Michael Mitchell (Teresa); Aunt, Nicki Hunt; nieces, Ezra Reyna and Mahiya Reyna; and nephew, Kameron Peebles. Cousins, Michael, Cameron and Bioncia Mitchell and Jace and Dylan Hunt; best friend, Jamir Starks; and girlfriend, Leyona Ellis. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, David K. Besselman and Chuck Hunt.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St., where a service celebrating his life will follow at 7 p.m.
