Sally Ann Turner

Sally Ann Turner, 82, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 22, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 14, 1941, in Indianapolis, to the late William Marion Turner, Sr. and Marjorie L. (Chappell) Turner.

Sally was a graduate of Emmerich Manual High School, class of 1960, and went on to serve in the United States Army.  She was a member of the Eastern Star, Prospect Chapter #452 and had a way with people, never meeting a stranger and always making people feel welcomed and valued.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family; she always let you know that she loved you and was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She was a great cook and enjoyed having breakfast and dinner with family and friends. Sally had a great sense of humor and her laugh was unforgettable.  She will truly be missed by her loving family and close friends. 

Survivors include her children, Bradley Alan (Robyn) Roberts, Rhonda Leanne Willis and Tina Smitty; siblings, William Marion Turner, Jr. and Connie Marie (Gary) Legan; grandchildren, Brian Alan (Chelsea) Roberts, William “Billy” C. Roberts, Jamie Lynn (Donnie) Newman, Maria Leanne (Luke) Green, Drew (Jennifer) Dedeic, Megan Lafay Dedeic, Muriah G. Dedeic, BreAuna Roberts, Amanda (Robbie) Thayer, Misty Ann Smitty, Chris Smitty and A.J. Smitty; and 35 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, Forrest “Woody” Lee Roberts; and siblings, Barbara Lee Thomas , James D. Turner, Linda Lou Miller and Albert Freeman Turner.

Family and friends will gather on Monday, January 29 from 11 to 1 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis.  A service celebrating her life will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial with military honors:  Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville, Indiana.

Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
