Sarah Louise “Sally” Byrne, 76, of Evansville, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Deaconess Hospital Gateway Campus.
Sally was born in Beech Grove, Indiana on July 31, 1948, to the late James and Evelyn Grubb. She grew up on the south side of Indianapolis, attending school #34 and Emmerich Manual High School. She received her GED in 1983 while working as a group leader at Wavetek (Mid-States) in Beech Grove. While raising her family, she worked at Walmart, Johnson Memorial Hospital and as a substitute teacher at Indian Creek Schools. Sally was a self-taught, proficient American Sign Language interpreter. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, and she loved her many dogs. She was best known for her warm smile, giving heart and acceptance of others.
Surviving Sally are her husband of forty years, Daniel Byrne; six children, Steve (Debbi) Vorhies, Jami Sayeed, Darci (Quinn) Mahoney, Marcus (Alissa) Byrne, Elise Byrne, Jeromy Byrne and Laura Byrne; grandchildren, Nick, Jacob, Xavier, Sadie, Claire, Levi, Isam, Hunter, Landon and Lilly and great grandchildren, Arlan and Hadley. Sally is also survived by sister, Judy (Grubb) Ferguson; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Grubb and by a granddaughter, Sarah Vorhies.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 5:00 PM on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services.
