Sharon Louise Brutz, 66 of Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. The daughter of the late James Kitzmiller and Joanne Benoit, Sharon was born on Saturday, October 20, 1956 in Barberton, Ohio.
Sharon was a claims manager with Liberty Mutual Insurance from 1997 to 2023. Previously, she worked for State Auto and Meridian Mutual Insurance Companies.
Sharon was of the Episcopalian faith. She enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas; living near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and would attend the annual race. She was an avid reader, having read every Danielle Steele and V. C. Andrews novels. Sharon loved working in her gardens, raising beefsteak tomatoes and her purple mum plants. She would jump at every opportunity to be with her children and her “surrogate” children.
Sharon will be continually loved by her husband, James N. Brutz of Indianapolis; sons, Ryan (Sarah Ernstes) Brutz of Indianapolis, Derek (Alina) Brutz of Melbourne Beach, FL, Max (Shelli) Woodard of Springfield, OH and Matt (Christina) Nichols of Indianapolis; daughters, Renee Brutz of Indianapolis, Melissa (Ray) Williams of Casa Grande, AZ and Shannon (Brent) Taylor of Indianapolis; brothers, Thomas (Cyrena) Kitzmiller of Las Vegas, NV, James (Maggie) Kitzmiller of Albuquerque, NM and John (Monica) Kitzmiller of Wagoner, OK; sisters, Norma (Kenneth) Hall and Carol Kitzmiller, both of Carthage, TN; six grandchildren; three nephews; four nieces.
Family and friends may gather from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 29, 2023 at the Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 South Meridian Street, Indianapolis. An informal service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Cremation will follow services.
