He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Louis and Irene (Broderick) Bussell. Stephen was baptized in 1945. He received his First Holy Communion and was confirmed. He attended Holy Cross and was surprised and encouraged when he received a high score on an intelligence test in the 7th grade. Then went to Cathedral for a year and later graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 3 years to work at Cummins Diesel but had to leave for health reasons.
He worked for the State of Indiana and left to join the Army Reserves where he received an honorable discharge and a letter of appreciation for his teaching skills.
Steve worked at RCA for ten years and decided he wanted more education and received a Bachelor of Science with distinction in supervision from Purdue University School of Engineering and Technology at Indianapolis, a Master of Arts in Applied Communication from Indiana University, and an outstanding student in supervision finalist.
He was a jazz pianist for several years. He joined the Toast Masters, where he received several trophies from public speaking events.
He started losing his health at an early age, slowly declining until he passed away while he was on hospice.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Jo Bussell.
In lieu of flowers or attending his service, Stephen requests that a lot of Masses be said in his honor.
His obituary is not sufficient, so if you know Steve, please leave a holy remembrance of him.
