Tony Lee Rumple, 78, of Indianapolis, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 5, 1944, in Rushville, Indiana, to the late Lloyd E. and Elsie B. (Loveall) Rumple.
After graduating from Harry E. Wood High School, Tony joined the US Army where he learned to jump from airplanes and spent time in Wurzburg, Germany. While serving in the military, he married a young lady he grew up with, the love of his life, Janet (Purvis) Rumple and together they raised four children. Tony liked to hunt with his brother, Bob, and take his kids cat fishing at night. He was an avid bowler, loved playing cards with family and friends, especially Euchre. He loved being outside sitting on the front porch or inside watching his westerns or wrestling.
Survivors include his children, Michael (Susan) Rumple, Kirk (Kim) Rumple, Kevin (Jenny) Rumple and Annette (Jonathan) Dake; brothers, Bob (Pat) Rumple and Carl (Wanda) Rumple; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet; parents; and sister, Doris Carter.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 4 to 8 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian Street. A service celebrating his life will be on Friday, January 6 at 12 noon with one hour of visitation prior. Following services, he will be buried in New Crown Cemetery with military honors.
