William Corbett Coglan, III., 51, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024. He was born on March 12, 1973, in Indianapolis, to William Corbett Coglan, Jr. and Patsy Ann (Underwood) Coglan. Will married the love of his life, Tara Michelle (Lewis) Coglan, on June 5, 2021.
“Big Will,” as he was known, was a graduate of Washington High School, class of 1992, where he earned a football scholarship until he was injured in his senior year. He loved to travel and had a great sense of humor; he could make anyone laugh. He had the ability to make people feel welcomed and loved. Big Will was a good cook and enjoyed spending time with his wife, Tara, in the kitchen.
Survivors include, his loving wife, Tara Michelle Coglan; father, Willaim Corbett Jr. and Patsy Ann (Underwood) Coglan; brother, Donny Coglan; sister, Carey Coglan; in-laws, Kenny (Linda) Lewis, Tammy Lewis and Jeannie Stevens; Aunts, Amy (Butch) Bailey, Debbie (Joe) Heigo and Tina (Bill) Sanders; uncles, Claude Underwood, James Underwood and Danny (Angie) Coglan; nieces and nephews, Paige, Brianna, Nikki (Nathan) and Devin (Calista). Will was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Kenneth Lewis, Sr.; mother-in-law, Naomi (Ladd) Lewis; and nephew, Dustin.
Family and friends will gather on Monday, May 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St., with a service following at 7 p.m. with Pastor Earl Phumprey officiating.
Memorial contributions have been suggested to the National Kidney Foundation. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
