Richard Eugene Dodson I, 62, Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2016.  He was born on July 1, 1954 in Clinton, IN.  Richard worked at the end of his life as a carpenter for the home building industry but was known as a Jack-of-all-Trades. He could fix just about anything people needed.  Survivors include his children, Dell Valentine, Crystal Dodson, Jessica Valentine (Jason Weidner), Richard Dodson II (Heather Anderson), Eric Dodson, Nathaniel Harris (Monica Godleski), and Daniel Godbold; siblings, Kevin Smith, William Smith, David Dodson, Ernie Dodson, Sandy Gayhart, Judy Stedman, Sherry Gwinn, Mike Dodson, Frank Dodson, Becky Campbell, Robin Kidd, and Donnie Dodson; grandchildren, Christopher Ellis, Jaime Ellis, Arthur Alford, Mitchell McClellan, Richard E. Dodson III (Trey), and Aiden Weidner; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by his birth mother, Martha J. Smith; mother, Katherine Fern Cox; wife, Vickie S. Dodson and wife, Laura L. Hopkins; siblings, Gary Dodson, Dolores Batchler, Jerome Dodson, Linda Smith, Raymond Dodson, Kenny Dodson, Mary Couch, Barbie Davis, and James Dodson; and grandchildren, Tyrell Alford and Victoria Dodson..  A service will be held Tuesday, September 20 at 2 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St, with visitation there from 12 noon until the time of service.  Burial will follow at Concordia Cemetery.
